Mary M. House has been a practicing lawyer for 27 years with extensive civil litigation and general practice experience. In 2007, she became certified as an arbitrator and a mediator in domestic relations and general civil matters by the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution.

Mary specializes in general civil litigation, including select domestic matters, personal injury and business related cases. She also handles wills, probate disputes and contract work for her individual and business clients.

Prior to moving to McDonough, she lived in Atlanta, Georgia and practiced law with the Atlanta law firm, Gorby & Reeves, primarily representing doctors, hospitals, school boards and major companies throughout the State of Georgia in various civil matters, including medical malpractice cases. She additionally served as in-house counsel for the Georgia Department of Education under State School Superintendent Werner Rogers from 1988-1989.

Upon early graduation from college, Mary received her B.A. degree from Emory University in December of 1983. She was accepted into the Walter F. Georgia School of Law at Mercer University and graduated in the top 20% of her class in May 1987. During law school, Mary was a Moot Court Board Member, a Legal Research Teaching Assistant, Phi Delta Phi Treasurer and received an American Jurisprudence Award in Criminal Procedure.

Mary is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, and has been admitted to practice in all State Courts, including the Supreme Court of Georgia, and the Georgia Court of Appeals, as well as the United States District Courts for the Northern District of Georgia. She has represented clients in nearly every county across the State of Georgia. She is also a member of the Henry County Bar Association, and served as its Treasurer in 2004, and its President in 2005. During both years that Mary served as an officer for the Henry County Bar Association, it received an Award of Merit for Local Bar Associations from the State Bar of Georgia. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the General Practice and Trial Section of the State Bar of Georgia.

Mary has also been very active in public service activities since living in Henry County. In addition to providing at least 40 hours of pro bono work to indigent residents of the County on a yearly basis, she also was selected for the Leadership Henry Class of 2005, and was elected to the Leadership Henry Board of Directors for the Henry County Chamber of Commerce the same year. She has also served on the Board of Directors for Haven House, Prevent Child Abuse/Henry County, the Henry County Chamber of Commerce and served as the Chairman of the Splost III Advisory Committee for Henry County. With respect to non-legal public service activities, she is active in her church and her childrens school and extra-curricular activities.
